Fence Project

The National For Artists - By Artists Society's  Fence Project is an online exhibit designed to showcase the arts of college students - visual arts, performing arts, culinary arts, film and more.

The Fence Project was inspired by the works of Arthur Rose of Claflin University in Orangeburg, South Carolina.

Artist Arthur Rose was known as, 'The Dean of Black Arts'. He was an Associate Professor at Claflin University; the oldest HBCU in South Carolina and the only college where African Americans could earn a bachelor's degree in art in the South in the mid - century.
Rose went to great lengths to exhibit his students' work. Because segregation limited their access to commercial galleries, Arthur Rose initiated an annual "Fence Exhibit," in which students publically displayed their art along the front fence of Claflin University.

FABA's  Fence Project continues the works of this great artist and educator. It is designed to help inspiring students to integrate into the marketplace; giving them an opportunity to connect with the arts and entertainment, corporate and business worlds.

Our Mission

The mission of the Fence Project is to give students a headstart to achieve success during and after college.
